Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I am so happy to share big news with you about the transformation of the Brick House, which has been in process over the last year. As you know, the house stood empty for several years and had fallen into disrepair. It is a beautiful home, occupied for generations by the family from whom we acquired the entire Church property, and so it became an important goal to restore it into a welcoming space for our parish community, especially for our teens.
Through the great support of our generous donors – those who contributed financially and those who shared their time and talents – the renovation we began last Spring has now been largely completed.
The Brick House needs a name to suit its new use. After some consideration and conversation especially with our youth, we’ve landed on, “The Net.” Why? Because our patron, Saint Andrew, was a fisherman, and this coming Sunday we’ll hear Jesus say to him and his brother: “I will make you fishers of men; they abandoned their nets and followed Him (Mk 4:19).” Jesus gave them a new kind of net, which captures what we hope this house, “The Net,” will represent: a place where our teens will gather to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and their bonds as a parish family – a place where all of us can draw closer to Him.
The physical renovation of The Net is now complete, and I’m happy to invite each one of you to tour the house after all the Masses on the weekend of January 27 & 28 and especially to join us on Sunday, January 28, when Bishop Michael Saporito will celebrate the 10:30AM Mass and immediately after, will lead us in the official blessing of the house.
With the physical work completed, our next step is to provide The Net with essential furniture and furnishings to accompany the vibrant energy of our teens! We've compiled a list of needed donations, and to make things even easier, we've created an Amazon Wishlist with items that would greatly enhance our new space. Your generosity is truly appreciated! For those unfamiliar with how an Amazon Wishlist works, it's a user-friendly way for you to view and purchase items we need directly from the comfort of your home. Simply click on the link provided, and you'll find a curated list of items that can be shipped directly to us which will greatly enhance The Net.
Thank you all for your incredible support throughout this entire restoration. Your contributions, whether big or small, have played a crucial role in making The Net a reality. We look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with you and to the many memories we'll create together in The Net.
May the Lord continue to bless your generosity!
Fr. Joe Chapel, Pastor
