The Archdiocese of Newark encourages continuous enrollment in the faith formation parish program for all children and teens. Children and teens who have not been registered in a faith formation program for over 1 year are invited to reintegrate into our faith formation programs by registering for their designated program outlined in the Catch Up program.
Continuous enrollment in faith formation helps children grow in their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith, develop a personal relationship with God, and prepare them for the sacraments. This formation is meant to provide a strong foundation for their spiritual lives and help them live out their faith in the world. It is important to avoid gaps in faith formation so that children can come to understand their faith as they develop their understanding of society and experience growth. Reintegration is necessary to catch children and teens up on what they missed and to address their questions and understanding of the faith.
Is the reintegration process required? That's up to you to discern. We understand that life gets busy- school, concerts, recitals, sports practices, competitions, and so much more are significant events that you don't want to miss. We are able to assist you in catching up on any missed coursework. However, some experiences, such as growing as a community of believers, encountering Christ in Mass or reconciliation, and developing your prayer life with peers cannot be replicated. It's up to you to decide what's important and prioritize accordingly.
Â
For Children who have missed between 1 and 6 years of faith formation, the reintegration process will include completing the workbooks associated with missed grade levels and periodically meeting with both the director of Faith Formation and our pastor over the course of the year. Parent(s) and children will complete at-home chapters and together meet with our staff to discuss what they have learned at home. In addition to the Catch Up process, they will need to be registered in the Family Based Faith Formation Program and attend Mass weekly. It is suggested that the workbook(s) be done over the summer.
COST: $150
Program costs include the costs of the needed workbook(s) and program materials.

The Church of St. Andrew offers a dynamic Youth Ministry program to aid teens in preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation with a 2-year preparation program. The Archdiocese requires 2 continuous years of faith formation before the Sacrament of Confirmation. Teens may begin the process as early as their freshman year of high school. Regardless of a teen’s age, they will start in the program as a year 1 candidate. Confirmation does not need to be completed at a particular age and thus teens can begin the process at any high school grade level.
Teens who have not completed the junior high program or have not been enrolled in a faith formation program prior to Youth Ministry will need to enroll in our Catch Up course. It is important to note that the goal of Youth Ministry is not to be confirmed, rather it’s to give teens the formation they need to discern if the Sacrament of Confirmation is something they would like to receive.
Reintegration Program
Teens in this program will be required to complete the course work which is a hybrid at-home and in-person model of teaching teens the necessary components of Catholic faith formation they missed out on during their time not enrolled. At the completion of this program, they are required to pass an assessment. The curriculum includes 14 chapters of which we will complete some in our sessions and some will be completed at home. Teens must be present at each session and complete the work at home to successfully complete the program.
includes bible, textbook, and program costs

There is a program available at a nearby parish in July that we can connect you with.
Confirmation is the last Sacrament of Initiation, in which teens affirm that they have accepted the Catholic faith into which they were baptized. Teens can not accept a faith that they do not understand. In order to be adequately prepared for Confirmation they must have a basic understanding of our faith.
