At baptism, parents promise to be the primary religious educator of their children. The Church of St. Andrew’s Religious Education Program is here to assist our parents in passing on our Catholic faith to the next generation.
Programs are offered beginning with pre-school children (Little Angels) through high school. Parents are encouraged to participate in these programs by volunteering their time and talent to teach and guide their children. For more specific information about our Religious Education program please call the office.

What is a Family Based Program?Our Family-Centered Religious Education model is a completely cooperative effort between home and parish. The parish provides the resources and formal instruction for both children and adults. The family works at the reinforcement and informal instruction, within the family/home time, based on the gatherings at the parish. The formal gatherings are guided by the Lectionary of the Church (a three-year cycle of readings). Each monthly gathering uses the Sunday readings as the foundation for the Catholic doctrine that is presented to all participants – parents. In addition to the daily learning at home we will gather once a month.

Sacramental Programs

First ReconciliationReconciliation (also called Penance or Confession) is offered to children in the second year of faith formattion and older. Children will participate in a parent and child workshop and are given materials for home preparation to work on over the summer. Parents will attend a meeting to help them with the preparation of their children for this Sacrament. The Sacrament is celebrated in the fall.

First CommunionFirst Holy Communion marks a Catholic's first reception of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. It is an extremely important event in a Catholic family's life.
Children may start the program for first communion starting in the their second year of faith formation. The family-based program will journey with children and their families to prepare them for this important sacramental milestone.

The Middle School Program
Youth in 7th & 8th grade participate in:
Summer Program allows youth to gather in a large group setting for a weeklong learning session, usually at the end of June. The youth are lead by a facilitator and share small group discussions with a table leader.
Monthly Group- In addition, all students gather in a large group setting monthly during the school year to continue to explore and grow in their faith.
Monthly sessions are held on select Wednesdays (please consult the calendar.)
